Dr. Watts |
My name is Natasha Watts, although I’m sometimes known as Tbird, and I currently work at Hazard Community and Technical College as a full-time instructor in Computer Information Technology and Visual Communications. Before that I spent more than 12-years working for a youth media program in the coalfields of eastern Kentucky. I have many joys; my children, images, and the unexpected stories that people tell you when you are casually sitting in a waiting room. Education is constantly changing everything I know and the opportunity to feel equal to those I used to think were so far from where I started have changed the way I see the world. Eastern Kentucky is my home: yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I have always felt education is imperative to systemic and long-term change and my driving goal is to help communities define their own educational experience with technology and to offer media creation tools as an anchor for growth. I believe if you can teach within your own environment and culture, you can gain the interest and connections needed to inspire students’ desire to learn. I’m forever looking to define and re-define place-based technology for underserved communities. Doing for others and striving for change is at the epicenter of mankind.

“I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things.” - Mother Theresa I ran the Rock & Roll Marathon in January, 2015 but we have plenty more ground to cover! See what's up next: https://www.facebook.com/eachStepCounts/ Train with me? Here's how: 1) Move today! Make a healthy choice. Make the choice for you... or for loved ones. Send me your efforts & I'll pray... making my steps count for you. 2) Pray for me. Pray for someone. 3) Donate to the cancer society (as that is probably what I'm running for again this year) and send me that prayer intention. I'll make each step count. Promise! Dr. Ensmann |
